Sahily Anais
Printmaker + Creative Person
Hi! I’m Sahily, a Cuban-American printmaker in Seattle, Washington.
My work draws inspiration from my colorful Caribbean roots, nature, pop culture, and the mid-century era. I’m influenced by Cubist artists such as Picasso, the pop art movement, and contemporary artist Yayoi Kusuma.
My artistic process combines my background in photography and fine art with my passion for color theory. When creating prints, I generally start by taking photos of my subjects, then digitally illustrate them and carve them into printing blocks. I also experiment with various pigments as I press each print.
My mission in all my creations is to bring viewers both visual and emotional joy through color and my whimsical artistic style.
Nostalgia Collection
My latest prints are inspired by nostalgia. That warm feeling in your soul makes you smile brightly when you remember moments of the past. For me, it’s the 90s. The days of Carson Daily hosting TRL on MTV, being a rink rat, and taking care of my digital pet while munching on snacks.
